Latest Details on Libyan Military Jet Crash in Ankara | Black Box Recovered

The investigation continues into the crash of a Falcon 50 business jet near Haymana district of Ankara, which was reported to be carrying the Libyan Chief of the General Staff.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated via social media that a judicial investigation has been launched into the incident and that all possibilities are being examined meticulously. Within the scope of the investigation, assessments are being conducted from multiple angles, including whether the incident was an accident or a case of sabotage. Libya’s Minister of Communications told Al Jazeera that “all indicators in Ankara point to a technical malfunction as the cause of the crash.”

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that the wreckage was spread across an area of approximately 3 square kilometers. He stated that teams from the Transportation Safety Investigation Center under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure recovered the cockpit voice recorder at 02:45 and the flight data recorder (black box) at 03:20, after which examination processes were initiated by the relevant authorities.

It was reported that the aircraft crashed in rural Haymana shortly after departing Ankara Esenboğa Airport for reasons not yet fully determined. The region’s geographical conditions and adverse weather reportedly hampered search and investigation efforts.
